DoseUtility™ is a free open source tool with a user interface to query, retrieve, import, and extract and report radiation dose information. It currently supports CT dose information. It implements the DICOM Radiation Dose Structured Reporting (RDSR), and includes optical character recognition (OCR) of "dose screens" with conversion to RDSR. It is available at PixelMed™ DoseUtility™.
DicomCleaner™ is a free open source tool with a user interface for importing, "cleaning" (de-identifying) and saving sets of DICOM instances (files). It supports blackout (redaction) of burned in identifiers in pixel data, including block-based redaction of lossy compressed JPEG data to avoid further loss due to recompression. It is available at PixelMed™ DicomCleaner™.
This is a stand-alone DICOM toolkit that implements code for reading and creating DICOM data, DICOM network and file support, a database of DICOM objects, support for display of directories, images, reports and spectra, and DICOM object validation.
The toolkit is a completely new implementation, which does not depend on any other DICOM tools, commercial or free. It does make use of other freely available pure Java tools for compression and XML and database support.pixelmed_dicom, to which both general and support related questions should be directed.
Various aspects of the implementation will be discussed in a forthcoming book from PixelMed Publishing™.
This is a stand-alone JPEG codec that implements selective block redaction for use during de-identification.
It can be used in conjunction with the PixelMed™ Java DICOM Toolkit, but is distributed separately to allow it to be used with other toolkits, or for other (non-DICOM) JPEG applications.
PixelMed Publishing™ implemented the Enhanced CT and MR Multi-frame SOP Class project for the NEMA MII Section Committee for Advancement of DICOM. This project involved the creation of sample images and spectroscopy objects, a test display tool, and an object validator.
The pure Java binary code and open source for the display tool, which includes the validator, and the sample images of the first phase of the project have been made freely available to the public. This follows the NEMA seminar on the topic that was held at SPIE MI meeting in Feb 2003 in San Diego after which the MR images were released, and the SCAR 2005 meeting in Orlando after which the CT images were also released. The Java jar files, source code and documentation are also included in the PixelMed™ Java DICOM Toolkit, which contains the most recently updated implementation.
UCUM is a standard for encoding units of measure, and PixelMed™ provides an experimental open source toolkit for the parsing of UCUM unit strings, their conversion into a canonical form and for the extraction of a the value to convert one unit to another, where possible. The Java jar files, source code and documentation are available at PixelMed™ Java UCUM Toolkit.
